God is Watching Over In Our Earthly Pilgrimage
To some it may seem strange to speak of our time on earth as a pilgrimage, but that is exactly what the Word of God says of those who know Jesus Christ and are passing through this earth. In earth time, when we are young, we often feel invincible, and as if our lives will go on and on forever. And this is a natural feeling we should have knowing that God actually gave us eternal souls which will live forever, but not on this earth as we now know it.
The writer of the book of Hebrews reminds us that God is pleased with those of His children, who live their lives on this earth, not receiving all they would like to receive OR the things that are promised to them, but rather they “…admit that they are aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own… they were longing for a better country, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.” Hebrews 11:13-16.
Not only is God not ashamed to call those who are looking for a permanent residence His children, but He also is happy to be preparing that permanent, beautiful, indestructible, eternal place for them… what He calls a better country!
How we praise God for watching over us as He prepares for us a perfect home, even as we continue as aliens and pilgrims on this earth!
